Barbara Dupont Wilkerson

March 16, 1961 ~ July 3, 2024

Barbara Dupont Wilkerson, 63, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at her beloved Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, surrounded by her loved ones.

Barbara was born on March 16, 1961, in Jennings, LA and was a native and life resident of Cameron Parish. She was a graduate of South Cameron High School and spent much of her career in administration and operations, with most of her career spent running Wilkerson Transportation, Inc. with her husband.

Barbara was a vibrant soul who embraced life with joy and laughter. Her faith and salvation were the cornerstones of her strength. She adored her children and cherished her grandchildren even more, blessing us all with her boundless love. Those fortunate enough to know her fell in love with her immediately, as her kindness shone through every interaction. She never met a stranger, treating everyone like family and always ready to lend a helping hand. She found joy in traveling, dining with loved ones, long phone conversations, and savoring her morning coffee for hours. Her spirit and warmth will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love and kindness will live on in all of us.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 44 years, Wendell Wilkerson; her children, Trey (C’Rissa), Victoria, and Jacob (Haylee); grandchildren, Wyatt, Adrianna, Ella Kate, Liam, Miller, Wen, Kaye, Nan, Alice, and Sophia; mother in Law, Nan Wilkerson; brother, Jim Paul Dupont (Juanita); and her aunt was more like her sister, Paula Dupont. She also loved and cherished her many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, father, Darrell “Fats” Dupont; mother, Lucille “Ellen” Primeaux; sisters, Joann Schneider and Janice Dupont LeBoeuf; grandparents, Collise and Eula Dupont and Charles “C.M” and Ruby Phelps Davis; & father-in-law, George Wendell Wilkerson.

  3. To all of Barbara’s family I pray for your sadness and loss. She was an exceptional person who had a smile that was catching. She loved you all so much. She was a beauty inside and out. Rest easy in the arms of our savior. No more pain and no more hospitals.

  4. Barbara was one of those very special people who made everyone feel like a best friend. I know she was one of mine, and though we didn’t see each other often, every time we did meet or just speak on the phone, I felt like we had just been together the day before. Barbara had a GOD given gift of making everyone feel loved and feel like family. She had a very rough last few years but she bore it all with grace and humility and left us all a glimpse of her faith in her Savior that held her through it all in the palm of his hand. Rest easy Barbara your work on earth is done. You raised some wonderful children and grandchildren who have been taught by one of the best and your legacy lives on. My love and prayers for Wendell and your family and all of us who were so blessed to know you.

  5. Candle 4Yes, Bertie said it ALL….

  6. We loved Barbara so much for her sweet spirit, Christian love and caring for everyone. We have so many great memories of her and her family with rodeo events involving Victoria at a young age, our girls, and trips to different rodeo training experiences. She was always smiling, positive and uplifting to us and everyone around her. We enjoyed a visit with her a few weeks ago and saw her eyes light up, that smile, sense of humor and love. We know she’s happy and joyful in Heaven with no pain and no suffering, and meeting Jesus and all those gone before.

  7. Barbara loved so well and lived out the verses from Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven.”
She leaves a sweet, Godly legacy for her family to remember. Her prayers for all of her family were, “to grow more like Jesus every day.”
You loved well and were well loved in return. See you soon at the feet of Jesus!

  8. Priceless, precious, loving, giving, kind, smart, beautiful, a smile like no other person I knew. She will be missed by all whose heart she touched throughout her journey here on this earth. Her smile now is given to the ones that have gone on before her. She had a heart of gold, and definitely was a giver to help anyone she possibly could. I will miss you my beautiful friend, until we meet again. May you wrap those georgous wings around your babies smiling big and hold them tight, letting them feel your present for as long as they shall have breathe.
I love you and will definitely miss you my beautiful loving friend, until then. I will see you again some day where there is no more suffering no more pain, where only happiness and joy resides…. Fly high our beautiful Angel!
