Berthaline Bertrand Newman, 75, of Lake Charles died at 1:16 AM on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Newman was born on July 1, 1935 in Lake Charles where she lived all of her life. She was a private nurse at Resthaven until retiring. Mrs. Newman was a devoted member of Livingway Pentecostal Church.
She never met a stranger and will be missed by all who new her. She will be sorely missed by her dog, Minnie.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Connie Davis and husband Dave, Eva Kinnison and husband Charles, and Kenzie Newman and wife Charlene all of Lake Charles; a brother, Berkman Bertrand of Lake Charles; seven grandchildren, MaryAnn Morris, Rebecca and Wesley Davis, Linzi Koonce, Casey Newman, Charles Kinnison, and Keith Newman all of Lake Charles; and six great grandchildren, Jacob and Matthew Hebert, Morgan and Levi Holland, and Peyton and Taylor Davis all of Lake Charles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eva and Johnny Bertrand both from Elton; two sons, Carl Wayne and Thomas Wayne Newman; her husband, Kenson Newman; and a sister, Elaine Comeaux.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 19, 2010 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Charles Nugent will officiate. Burial will be in Hayes Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00 AM until time of services.

Well Mom you made that journey you always talked about. We are glad you are with the Lord, but we that are left are the ones that are lonesome.
