C. D. Terry

Curtis David "C.D." Terry, 83, of Lake Charles, LA died Sunday, December 11, 2011 at his home following a brief illness.


C.D. was born June 29, 1928 in Waldo, AR. He worked for Gulf Oil Corporation in New Orleans, lived fifteen years in Morgan City where he opened Spanish Trail Arms, Inc. He has resided in Lake Charles for the past thirty years. In April 1966, he opened Spanish Trail Arms, Inc. C.D. served his country as a member of the 4th Armored Division of the United States Army. He attended armored school at Fort Knox, KY and graduated as a Tank Commander. His overseas duty was served in Germany as a Tank Commander. He was a lifetime member of the Colt Collectors Association and served on it's Board of Directors and a lifetime member of T.G.C.A. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, having also enjoyed gun collecting, photography and oil painting. He attended many gun and knife shows across the country and won many awards for his creative displays and collections. He also enjoyed traveling, sitting with his family sharing stories and petting his "most" favorite dogs, now passed, Tippie, Flag, and most recent Molly.


He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of twenty- eight years, Dorothy Mere Terry of Lake Charles; four daughters, Kathy Trahan and Clay Broussard, Linda Hebert and husband Keith of Morgan City, Patricia Martin and husband Albert of Georgetown, TX and Lisa Martarona and husband John of Carencro; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one brother, Jackie Terry of Hattiesburg, MS.


He also leaves his extended family, Jim Allee and wife Barbara, Ruth Conner and husband Clyde, Lenny Allee and wife Kim, Pam Godley and husband William "Bill", Benny Allee and wife Marianne, all of Lake Charles; eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Warren "Jack" and Maryann Terry, one sister, Virginia Lee Youngblood and one son-in-law, Mike Trahan.


Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Rick Treece will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday, December 13, 2011 will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue Wednesday from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
