Caldwell “Willie” Fontenot, Sr., 83, of Lake Charles, LA, passed away at 1:45 PM on Thursday, December 15, 2022 in a local hospital.
Mr. Fontenot was born April 10, 1939 in Swords, LA and lived in Lake Charles for the past sixty years. He retired from F. Miller and Son’s Construction, where he dedicated over thirty-five years. He was a longtime member of the Laborer’s Local 207 and a member of St. Henry Catholic Church. He will always be remembered as a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and as a hard worker.
Mr. Fontenot is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Anna Mae Guillory Fontenot; sons, Caldwell Fontenot, Jr. (Wenona) of Iowa, LA and Jonathan Fontenot of Lake Charles; daughters, Mary “Annette” DeJean (David) of LeBleu Settlement, LA, and Jacqueline “Jackie” Fontenot of Lake Charles; daughter-in-love, Rachelle DeJean (Merrick) of LeBleu Settlement; brother, August Fontenot, Jr. (Savannah) of Lake Charles; sisters, Anna Mitchell and Helen Francis (Jay), all of Beaumont, TX; eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, August Fontenot, Sr. and Albertine St. Andre Fontenot; brother, Roland Fontenot; and sisters, Ivy Guillory, Nathalie Guillory, and Merritta Citizen.
His memorial mass will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, December 23, 2022 at St. Henry Catholic Church. His cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
