Carlton Wayne "Foots" Sutton, Sr., age 56, was called to rest on Monday, December 20, 2010, at 6:45 a.m. at his residence in Westlake.

Carlton was born to Martha Frelot Mills and Cleophus Sutton, Jr., on April 30, 1954. He lived in Atlanta, GA, and then moved back to Mossville and later resided in Westlake. He was baptized at Reeves Temple CME Church at an early age and later became a member of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Carlton attended Westlake High School and McNeese State University. He served in the United States Air Force for four years and obtained an honorable discharge. He worked for the post office in Lake Charles, Olin Chemicals Plant, and Westlake Recreation Center. Preceding him in death was his maternal grandparents, Albertha and Hollis Frelot, Sr., his paternal grandparents, Mattie and Cleophus Sutton, Sr., and a step-father, John L. Mills. Carlton will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Wilrye Sutton of Westlake; a son, Carlton Wayne Sutton, Jr, of Westlake; two daughters, Feliecity Harris and husband, Devon of Sulphur and Christiana Ellen Sutton of Westlake; his mother, Martha Frelot Mills of Sulphur; his father, Cleophus Sutton, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Malvin Sutton of Austell, GA; two sisters, Albertha Chavis and husband, Wilson Chavis, Jr. of Sulphur and Vanessa Fuselier and husband, Leonard of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Khristian, Janie, Bryson, Jada and Devon, Jr.; a special longtime friend, Leon Miles, Sr. of Westlake; and a host of aunts, uncles, and relatives.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2010, at The Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Westlake. Rev. Madison Clark, Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Perkins Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held that same day at the church beginning at 9 a.m. until time of service. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the nursing staff of Christus St. Patrick Hospital, Cornerstone Group Hospital, Dr. Tony Leung, Dr. Barry Newton, Dr. Jody George, and his gentle caregiver, Ms. Josephine Morris.
