Carolyn Carter Winslett, 84, passed away on May 10, 2011 in her home and surrounded by loving family.
Carolyn was born in Gibsland, Louisiana on November 20, 1926. She graduated from Louisiana Tech in 1946 with a degree in Secretarial Science. In 1961, she moved to Lake Charles. She was a member of Boulevard Baptist Church, where she served as the nursery coordinator and was an active member of the WMU for many years. She was also a former member of the "Pink Lady" Auxiliary at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
Carolyn was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be remembered for her cheerful smile and her generosity to others.
She is survived by her three daughters, Carol Beth Winslett Fontenot (Steve), and Deborah Lou Winslett Smith (Tony), of Lake Charles, and Wendy Lee Winslett Primeaux (Richard) of Austin, TX; three sisters, Lois Neal Carter Stewart, Patta Jane Carter Kihneman, and Betty Joyce Ouzts Means; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Raymond Gage Winslett; her parents, Hettie Lou Ouzts Carter and Carroll Monroe Carter; and an infant brother, Carroll Monroe Carter, Jr.
Her funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 Pm and continue on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service. Long-time family friend, Durl Schultz will officiate. Her graveside service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 13, 2011 at Mount Lebanon Cemetery in Mount Lebanon, LA.

My sympathy to you all for the loss of your Mother and Grandmother. She is my last Aunt and I will miss her conversation and funny stories about life in general. After living as long as she had you have a few of those. Hope your memories keep her close in heart and mind in the future.
