Clyde A. Perkins, 72, of Lake Charles, died Wednesday July 6, 2011 at a local hospital.
He was born in Lake Charles November 4, 1938 to Harvey C. and Pauline Doyle Perkins. An avid fisherman and hunter, he loved cooking and spending time with his family and listening to his "golden oldies". He retired as a pipeline labor steward for local 692.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Benoit Perkins; two sons, Michael Cleaton and John Smith; and four brothers. Those left to cherish his memory are three daughters, Marlena (Nina) Clark and husband Ricky of Moss Bluff, Dana (Susie) Edwards and husband Randy of Moss Bluff, and Sissy Perkins Console, of Lake Charles; two sons, John Carey Cleaton of New Orleans and Billy Smith of Lake Charles; six grandchildren, Corey Smith, Casey Smith, Nikki Denton, Cody Edwards, Madison Edwards, and Jace Console; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald Perkins, Lake Charles and Morris Perkins, DeRidder; and six sisters, Wanda Brown, Linda Cooley, Dorothy Brown, Violet Perkins, Doris Perkins, all of DeRidder and Velma Alexander of Pratt, Kansas.
Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home Thursday July 7, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Friday July 8, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Funeral services will be Friday July 8 at 2:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home with Brother Steve Young officiating. Burial will be at Old Richie Cemetery in Moss Bluff.
My deepest sympathy goes out to Mr. Clyde's family. We have been neighbors for 30+ years. He would always come and talk to me and find out how I was doing or if he had missed seeing us for a while. Nice person. Will miss seeing him.
