Dennis L. Brungardt

December 9, 1954 ~ May 19, 2024

Dennis Leon Brungardt, 69, of Lake Charles, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024, at a local hospital. Dennis was born December 9, 1954, in WaKeeney, KS. to Seraphine and Bridgette Brungardt.

After High School, Dennis obtained an associate degree in commercial refrigeration. He enjoyed working and time on the family farm. After his accident he rebuilt auto pilots for aviation industry. He later earned an accounting degree from Wichita State University.

Dennis enjoyed playing wheelchair basketball, bowling and later joined the wheelchair tennis USA Team where he won multiple tournaments. He moved to Louisiana in 2009 and enjoyed playing cards at the casino. He was a devoted father and grandfather.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son; Mathew Brungardt (Brandi), brother; Frank Brungardt (Donna), sisters; Phyllis Martine (Richard), Sarah Herman, Theresa Stabb, 2 grandchildren; Jacob Brungardt, Ethan Brungardt, 3 step grandchildren; Kayleigh Massie (Cody), Cody White (Danie), Jacob White, the mother of his children; Paula LaVergne (Hubert).

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lita Geci.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 3:00PM until 5:00PM at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St. Lake Charles, LA. 70605. The family has entrusted cremation arrangements to Johnson Funeral Home following the visitation.

I have great memories of Den growing up being 10 yrs older, he went thru so much after his accident and never complained, I enjoyed sending him pics of our wheat fields and St Peter which he truly loved and missed, he loved the family farm and most of all loved his family Matt, Brandi and family, we will miss him dearly, love you Den

  4. In the short time I knew him, Dennis was always a good friend. I enjoyed playing tennis with him. I considered him a well balanced, intelligent man with a great sense of humor. Rest in peace, my friend.
