Dorothy Louise Sonnier

Dorothy Louise Reeves Sonnier, 81, died Friday, November 25, 2011 at a Lake Charles care center surrounded by her family.


Mrs. Sonnier was born February 3, 1930 in Topsy where she lived all of her life. She was a homemaker and raised all her children there.


She is survived by her four sons, C.A. Sonnier of Lake Charles, Winbourne Sonnier of LeBleu Settlement, Louis Sonnier of Topsy, and Gary Sonnier of Lake Charles; two daughters, Patty Sonnier Trahan of Moss Bluff and Pamela Sonnier Cormier of Topsy; sister, Doris Hundley of Westlake; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.


Funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 1PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Lenford Whitaker, Rev. Verlin Sonnier, and Rev. Elsye Mae Sonnier will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Oaks cemetery in Kinder. Visitation will begin Monday from 2PM-9PM and will continue Tuesday from 8AM until time of service.


She will be carried to her final resting place by her six grandsons, Charles Sonnier of Eunice, Shawn Duplechain of Sweet Lake, Shannon Sonnier of Kansas, Rocky Sonnier of Bowling Green,Fl, Michael Sonnier of Lake Charles, and Shane Cormier of Topsy.

  1. Girls and Guys, I am so sorry for your lost I think about your mother and your father alot. I loved them very much. I am sorry I wasn't able to make it to the service.   2. I will miss my Aunt Dorothy very much. My fondest memory is when Nelda, Mary Nell, Helen, Donita and myself went to Nacadoches with Aunt Dorothy and Aunt Doris to see the Christmas Lights. I had the pleasure of driving my two Special Aunts around. I can still here Aunt Dorothy telling me to slow down or she would say Baby you are going to fast. Aunt Doris would say Dorothy she is doing just fine. I had the time of my life with my Aunts. I love you and always will and I will always remember that trip.Thanks for all that you have done for me over the years. Your neice,Dianna Reeves White

Our Hearts are heavy with Grief at the loss of Our Special Aunt I will cheerish the time I spent with her and most of all have great memories of the last family gathering in Sept how we all had a great time, and how we all Loved spending those few moments with her when we could Thanks Aunt Dot for Loving me and all your Neices like we were the only one BUT there is a lot of us…Love u

  6. Thoughts and prayers are with all of you. We all loved Aunt Dot and will always remember her thoughtfulness and kindness towards us all. My mom loved her sister so much and shared many laughs together. They are laughing once again and Uncle Joe is up there giving my mom fits like he always did. I can still hear Aunt Dot tell him to go on Joe and leave Lucy alone and let her drink her coffee.Love you all
