Douglas James Davis

Douglas James Davis, 74, of Lake Charles entered into rest Saturday, September 17, 2011 from the comfort of his home.


Mr. Davis was born in DeRidder, LA, raised in the Rosepine area and has lived the past fifty-five years in Lake Charles. He worked all his life as a Teamster for Teamsters Local #969, having retired a Steward. Mr. Davis was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also a talented vocalist and musician, could play any and all instruments and built electric guitars. He will be most remembered for his story telling, his jokes and for his love of laughter.


He leaves to honor his memory, two daughters, Kathy Davis Norwood and husband Tan of Moss Bluff and Gay Davis Caswell and husband Robert of Lake Charles; daughter-in-law, Patricia Dupuis of Egan; three grandchildren, D.J. Leveque of Westlake, Beau Leveque of Moss Bluff and Jessica Caswell of Lake Charles; two great- grandchildren, Addyson Caswell and Colton Sittig, both of Lake Charles; one brother, Norman Davis and wife Debbie of Rosepine; two sisters, Dianne Landry and husband Kenneth of Moss Bluff and Geraldine Greenfield of Merryville and his precious beloved dog, Penny.


He was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Norma Jean Davis; son, Wayne Davis; his parents, Ennis and Beulah Davis and one brother, Dale Wayne Davis.


Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 21, 2011 in St. Margaret Catholic Church. Father Bill Miller will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday will be from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a scripture service beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Wednesday will be from 10:00 AM until 1:30 PM in the funeral home.
