Ethel Noel Stevens

February 24, 1925 ~ June 14, 2016

Ethel Noel Stevens, 91 was born on February 24, 1925 in Bell City, La. to the parents of Ferdinand and Ida Victorian Noel. She was called home by the Lord on Tuesday, June 14, 2016.

 

She was a native of Bell City, La. and longtime resident of Lake Charles, La. She was a member of True Light Baptist Church, Pastor Alvin Noel.

 

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, taking care of her plants and flowers, shopping, going to church, and spending time with her family and friends. Ethel was a very wise woman of God that was always willing to share her life stories with anyone that would listen. She had a rare sense of humor that made you laugh and left you speechless. She and her late husband, Rev. Iseah Stevens often housed missionaries from Elton, La. and taught V.B.S. in many local churches. She was a member of the Interdenominational Ministers Wives Association for more than 40 years. Her favorite scripture was the 23rd Psalms.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ferdinand and Ida Noel, two brothers: Henry and Forest Noel, four sisters: Mable Perkins, Gladys Perkins, Alice LeBlanc, Grace Noel, two daughters: Junita Stevens and Gladys Marie Joseph.

 

She leaves to mourn: two sisters, Helen Dugas of Lacassine, La. and Anita Taylor of Lake Charles, six daughters: Ethel Lee (Robert) Goodman of Los Angeles, Ca., Rose Walker of Lake Charles, Elaine Stevens of Los Angeles, Ca., Mary Jane (Earl) Jones of Houston, Tx., Martha Jane (Louis) Basile of Lake Charles, Deidre Stevens and Erricka (Will) Simien both of Lake Charles, thirty-one grandchildren and forty-one great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

 

Visitation will be Friday, June 24, 2016 from 6PM-9PM at Johnson Funeral Home 4321 Lake Street and Funeral Service will be on Saturday June 25, 2016 viewing from 9AM to 11AM, service starting at 11AM at Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church, 910 N. Shattuck Street.
