She enjoyed traveling and walking mountain trails in the fall. She loved reading, sewing, and spending time with her family. We will hold her in our hearts forever.
Mrs. Harrop is survived by her daughters, Rosiland Millican and husband Dixon of Houston, TX, Jeanne LaBauve, Joy Dumesnil, and Erin Lancaster, all of Lake Charles; sisters, Frances Hewitt of Sulphur, LA and Clara Lee Wandell of San Antonio, TX; brother, Robin Freeman; grandchildren, Patrick Millican, Brittany LaBauve, Michelle Webb, Laura and Dane Dumesnil and Emily and Patrick Lancaster; and great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Quentin Stewart.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Patrick Joseph Harrop; her mother and father, Clara Nell and Fred Freeman; and one brother, Dewayne Freeman.
Her memorial service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor Ronald Groth will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
Since I am family this may not count but I remember Evelyn as an exceptionally sweet person. At her wedding to Pat she looked like a princess and the reception at Grandma's house seemed very fancy to me. Evelyn will certainly be missed by the family but now all of Grandma's children and their spouses are together with her. I suppose they all have Sunday dinner together, with Grandma saying that she just didn't get enough seasoning in the roast.
