Frank James Fontenot, Sr., 78, of LeBleu Settlement passed away at 1:15 AM on Sunday, October 1, 2023 in a local hospital.
Mr. Fontenot was born on August 25, 1945 in Elton and moved to Lake Charles where he lived until moving to LeBleu Settlement. At the age of 17, he joined the US Navy and was honorably discharged. He then began a career with Turner Industries and retired as a superintendent in 2008 but continued to work for them until 2014.
He took pleasure in trail riding on horseback and going deer hunting. Mr. Fontenot also enjoyed singing and good music to dance to.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Victoria Ogea Fontenot of LeBleu Settlement; children, Frank J. Fontenot, Jr. of LeBleu Settlement, Carol Jean Kershaw of Derby, KS, and Pamela Ann Kulusich of San Diego, CA; step children, Jason Hufstedler (Amanda) of Lake Charles and Nicole Janell Hufstedler Mackey (Nicole Power) of St. Louis, MO; siblings, Joseph C. Fontenot, Jr. of LeBleu Settlement, Lou Ella Duplechin of Lake Charles, Beverly Ann Fontenot of Lake Charles, and Bertha Marie Martinez (Tommy) of Port Neches, TX; grandchildren, Brian Keith Andrus, Amber Nicole Goins, Casey Andrus, Bobby Kulusich, Jr., Brittany Kulusich, Leilani Easton, Michaela Easton, and Caiden James Fontenot; step grandchildren, Samantha Ryan Mackey and Sara Ann Hufstedler; and ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Alice and Joseph Fontenot, Sr.; daughter, Tammy Denise Easton; and siblings, Mary Jane LeBleu, Lois Marie Duplechin, Larry Gregory Fontenot, and Agnes Cammie Breaux.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel. Fr. Shaji Jose will officiate. Burial will follow in LeBleu Cemetery in LeBleu Settlement. Visitation will begin on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
