Gail Richard Corkran, 79, of Lake Charles passed away at 9:12 AM on Monday, July 24, 2023 in a Tomball, TX health care facility.

Ms. Corkran was born on July 8th, 1944 in Henderson, TX, where she was raised until moving to Lake Charles.  She was a 1963 graduate of LaGrange High School and was a member of the Gatorette dance line.  She moved to Tomball, TX in 2020 to be close to her family.  In her earlier years, Ms. Corkran was an office manager for Davidson, Sash, and Door and later for Hertz Equipment Rental and Tommasi Supply.  She attended Heritage Baptist Church.

In her free time she took pleasure in taking care of her flower beds and decorating.

Those left to cherish her memory are a son, Richard Corkran (Mikelyn) of Magnolia, TX; sister, Joyce Picard (Freddie) of Iowa; grandchildren, Ryan Corkran (Amanda) of Rosenberg, TX and Dustin Corkran (Amena) of Salt Lake City, UT; and great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Kalila Corkran.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vonita and James Richards; daughters, Melissa and Wendy Corkran; and siblings, Ronald, Donald (Betty Lou), and Doyle Richards.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 28, 2023 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel.  The Rev. Ben Thompson will officiate.  Burial will take place at a later date in Prien Memorial Park.  Visitation will begin on Friday from 12:00 PM until the start of the service.
