Herman Soileau, 89, of Lake Charles died at 7:20 AM Saturday, January 29, 2011 in a local care facility with his family by his side.
Mr. Soileau was born in Mamou, Louisiana to Phillip and Alidia Soileau on August 24, 1921. He was a painter for Local #1244 for many years. Herman was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed being outdoors. He also loved taking care of the yard and garden in the spring and summer months. He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church.
He is survived by one son Greg Soileau and his wife Faye of Lake Charles, LA. three daughters Susan Wallace and husband Dean of Baton Rouge, LA, Margaret Green and husband Jesse of McAllen, TX, and Sandra Kramer and husband Ronald of Lake Charles, two grandchildren Tressa Soileau Crooks and Stephanie Soileau, and one great grandchild Megan Crooks.
Herman is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Maudrie Fontenot Soileau and his parents Alidia and Phillip Soileau and his grandson Joseph Soileau.
His funeral will be held on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Father Emanuel Tanu will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Sunday at 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary to be held at 6:00 PM and a scripture service to be held at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue at 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
