Jeanette Marie Broussard Benoit

Jeanette Marie Broussard Benoit, 76, of Jennings passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024 in a Lafayette, LA hospital.

Mrs. Benoit was born on March 26, 1947 in Lake Charles and was a graduate of Grand Lake High School.  She was an offshore cook and also cooked for Chardelle’s and later she was a caregiver for 24 years.  Mrs. Benoit was a Jehovah’s Witness.

In her earlier years she enjoyed dancing to Cajun French music.  Her favoring pastime was shopping with her friends.  Mrs. Benoit enjoyed being in the presence of butterflies and sunflowers and appreciating their natural beauty.

Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Katrina Benoit of Lake Charles; a son, Kris Benoit (Stephanie) of Hayes; grandchildren, Marina Gary and Shelby Benoit; great grandchildren, Harley, Konner, Maverick, Rowel, and Mason; brother, George Broussard, Sr. (Margaret) of Hayes; and sisters, Leta Mae Duplechain of New Iberia, Bobbie Lee Broussard of Sulphur, and Margaret “Peggy” Navarre (Glen Sr.) of Hayes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, August “Peanut” Benoit; son, Jeffery Lynn Benoit; parents, Melina and Etien Broussard; brothers, Etienne “T-Boy” Broussard, Jr. and Felix “Joe” Broussard; and sisters, Nora Louviere, Lillian Broxson, Lucy Guidry, and Lela Hazel Marceaux.

Visitation will begin on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.  Cremation will follow the visitation with an inurnment at a later date in Hayes Cemetery.
