John Corey Bond

John Corey Bond 54, passed away in his residence surrounded by the people he loved most on November 14, 2023.

He was born on January 16, 1969 in Lake Charles Louisiana, the place he called home for most of his life. He will be remembered by so many. He made a lasting impact on seemingly everyone that knew him, both near and far. People gravitated towards him for countless reasons, whether it was his vast knowledge, his sharp wit, his kind and loving nature, or the insightful perspective that he always brought to any conversation. He excelled in whatever he chose to do. The written word was his passion.

He was a writer and a voracious reader, and spent his life surrounded by books. He worked as a manager for Paper Heroes, Books-a-Million, and most recently served as branch manager at the Moss Bluff Public Library. Over three decades working to put books in people’s hands. His staff and patrons at the library all adored him. Of his many achievements in life, the most important one came so naturally for him. He was an amazing father, with unconditional love and unwavering support for his only child, always putting his needs first. And for those lucky enough to call him “friend”, he was the best friend you could ever hope for.

He is survived by his son, Matthew; sisters, Cathy Perry (Ed) and Cindy Menard (Dale), biological mother, Euta Hinton; a host of nieces and nephews, a bunch of those lucky friends, and his beloved dog, Bandit.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Judge William Ellis Bond and Kathryn “Shirley” Bond.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Johnson funeral home of Moss Bluff on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 2 PM. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 12 PM until the time of the service. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff.
