Julie Ann Meche

June 18, 1965 ~ March 19, 2024

Julie Ann Meche 58, passed away on March 19, 2024, in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Julie was born and raised in Lake Charles. She graduated from McNeese State University earning a bachelor’s degree. With her knowledge and love for the camera & media, she worked at KPLC for 35yrs where she was the news operations manager.

Julie enjoyed reading books, putting puzzles together, watching TV,
“discussing” politics and most of all spending time with friends and family. Her infectious smile and contagious laugh were like none other. Her tough, selfless, genuine love was felt in every “bear” hug. She loved hard and put everyone before herself. Julie was a devoted friend and mentor to all. Her beautiful soul left an impact on each person that came into her life. She deserved more than the world had to offer. Her wit, sarcasm, patience, and love will never be forgotten. As Jules would say, “Thanks for playing”.

She was a daughter, sister, aunt, friend, cousin, and niece. She was NANNY. Above her love for her hobbies, work family and job; her world revolved around her family, nieces, and nephews.

Those left to cherish her memory are siblings; Lonnie Meche wife Jeri Meche, and Beverly Meche Austin. Three Nieces; Courtney Meche Allee husband Jared Allee, Monica Austin Benoit husband Danny Benoit Jr, Brandy Austin Perry husband Dan Perry. Grandnieces and nephews; Gadric Theriot, Jacob Self, Brandon Keenan Jr, Parker Allee, Carter Allee, Hayden Austin, Alexis Benoit Clark, Caroline Clark, Colt Perry, Ella Perry. Several extended nieces and nephews; Raelinn Pena-Clement husband Michael Clement, Payton Crochet, Landon Crochet, Rylan Pena-Clement, Selena Pena- Clement, Ashley Comeaux, Grayden Comeaux, and Fredrick Lewis.
She is preceded in death by her parents Waverly and Lillie Mae Meche, one brother: Darrell Meche.

  4. Heartbroken that this world is now without the amazing Julie Meche. Because of her love and support, I was able to complete two FULL marathons and dozens of other races. She was everyone’s biggest cheerleader. She even threw me a party to celebrate leaving Lake Charles and starting a new life in NOLA.
The world is a much sadder place without her.

  5. Candle 3I cannot imagine this world without you, dear cousin and friend. My memories are so vivid and wonderful from playing in the playhouse at Nanny’s, going to the movies with Uncle Will, playing board games at Nan’s. You giving my kids a tour of the station (which they still talk about). You were not only my cousin by my life-long friend! Goodbye until we meet again! <3

  6. Candle 2Truly a great human being and an outstanding mentor. You will be missed Julie🤟🏽🙏🏼

  7. Julie’s passing will indeed have a huge impact on her family, friends, and co workers. She lived her life on her own terms and her personality shined on all of us. I will miss her wit and kindness forever. She was special. God bless my little sister in law forever
