Leon Joseph Powers, 75, of Ragley died at 4:30 AM on Sunday, December 12, 2010 in a local hospital.

Mr. Powers was born on December 20, 1934 in West Chazy, NY. He lived in Louisiana for the past 40 years. He was an LPN who enjoyed working with the mentally handicapped for 16 years of his life. He was proud of his family and will be remembered as a "family man." Mr. Powers was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 53 years, Phyllis Peryer Powers of Ragley; one daughter, Debra Canter and husband Jody of Ragley; one son, Jeffrey Powers and wife Heather of Lake Charles; two sisters, Ginny Luck and husband Gerald and Betty Frenyea all of New York; and six grandchildren, Christopher, Kristen, Michael, Danielle, Ashley, and Brenden.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 15, 2010 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Father Joseph Jennings will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday will be from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
