Lucille Agnes Hughes Ackley

Lucille Agnes Hughes Ackley, 83, died Thursday, November 18, 2010, in a local care facility, with her loving family at her side.


Born in Cedar Grove, Louisiana to John Ellis and Mable Agnes Gauthier Hughes, Mrs. Ackley lived most of her life in Lake Charles area, where she and her husband and sons owned and operated Custom Carpet Service from 1956 until 2005. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters and Altar Society. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.


Mrs. Ackley is survived by one daughter, Sandie Chauvin and husband Ronnie; four sons, Ricky Ackley and wife Denise, Gary Ackley, Kevin Ackley and wife Vera, all of Lake Charles, and Keith Ackley and wife Janice of Sulphur; sixteen grandchildren, Victor Ackley, Jessica Chauvin Lyles, Joseph Ackley, Eric Chauvin, Shane Chauvin, Brandon Ackley, Benjamin Ackley, Kyla Ackley, Breck Ackley, Kourtney Ackley Hoffpauir, Aaron Ackley, Kai Ackley, Victoria Ackley, Aidan Ackley, Keifer Ackley and Emily Ackley; and eleven great grandchildren.


Mrs. Ackley was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Monte "Buck" Ackley, and daughter-in-law Judy Ramoin Ackley.


Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2010, at St. Margaret Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Bill Miller will officiate. Entombment will be at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be on Friday, from 5 until 9 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 am. until 9a.m.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the compassionate and gentle care given their beloved mother to Dr. Ron Lewis and staff, the staff of Resthaven Rehabilitation Center, CHRISTUS Hospice and to the very special Sis Guillory, dedicated caregiver to Mrs. Ackley.

She alway love coming to our house to celebrate holidays and she loved to eat, and I will remember how she loved her family and loved us as her family too, she alway made me feel so comfortable with her. I am so sorry to learn of the passing of sweet Mrs. Ackley!I am working today, Saturday, so can't attend the services, but I had planned to go by Johnson's on the way home after work Friday, but did not get off til 9 pm (yes 🙁 ).Mrs. Ackley was a sweet lady, and I have missed her, and will miss her!David CarySwanee Street mailman.
