Lula Fontenot Arnaud

Lula Fontenot Arnaud, 83, of Spring Hill, TN, formerly of Lake Charles, died Friday February 4, 2011 at a Nashville, TN hospital after a brief illness.


Ms. Lula was born July 24, 1927 In Oberlin to Pierre and Ovele Bordelon Fontenot. As a teenager, she moved to Eunice, where she met the love of her life, John Arnaud. She and her husband started their family in Eunice and moved to Lake Charles in 1966. She was always active in her church, especially with the children of the church. She worked with the nursery programs at Glad Tidings, University Methodist and Vineyard churches, providing childcare from Mother's Day Out to church nursery.


She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband. Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her son, Gary Arnaud, League City, TX; daughter Shelia Keys and husband Eddy, Spring Hill, TN; four grandchildren, Nick Spell and wife Leah, Jody Spell, Monique Arnaud Derouen and husband Brady and Chance Arnaud; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Myrt Frey, Eunice and Mercedes Fontenot, Lake Charles, two nieces and five nephews.


Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM Monday February 7, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday February 8 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kelly Vigo Officiating. Burial will be at St. Louis Cemetery, Eunice.

  1. Clint and I cherish in our hearts the loving memory of Nan. How wonderful to know that we will see her again. We are praying for all of you and sorry we could not attend the funeral due to work. Love to you all.

  2. Gary and Shelia, we've lost a treasure but Aunt Lou will be in my memory forever. She had a beautiful personality and now my heart aches for her and your families.

  3. I FIRST MET MS LOU AT VINEYARD CHURCH IN LAKE CHARLES. ME MY HUSBAND DID ALOT OF COOKING SHE WAS ALWAYS THERE WATCHING THE CHILDREN. SHE ALWAYS MADE ME SMILE I ALWAYS HAD TO GET MY HUG EVERYTIME I SAW HER. I WILL MISS HER ALOT BUT SHE'S IN HEAVEN ROCKING MY BABY BOY JUST LIKE I ASKED HER TOO. LOVE U MS LOU CAN'T WAIT TO SEE U IN HEAVEN

  4. I worked with Ms. Lou at Glad Tidings, The Vineyard, and University Methodist Mother's Day Out Programs. She took care of 2 of my children. She was one of the sweetest people I have ever met. I loved her and will miss her!

  5. Ms. Lu and Mr. JJ have been in my life all my life. My mother was raised in Eunice by Ms. Lu's aunt, Fannie Mom Stout Cannon. When I was older, Mr. JJ worked for my Dad, Frenchy Miller in LC. After we were married, Ms. Lu took care of our two older children in her home. I remember her very well. My sympathy goes out to Gary and Sheila. I know you will miss her greatly. You are in my prayers.
