Mary Ann Sonnier Benoit

Mary Ann Sonnier Benoit, 72, of Moss Bluff died at 1:40 PM on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in her residence.


Mrs. Benoit was born in Mamou, LA on December 23, 1938. She lived in Welsh before moving to Moss Bluff in 1968. Mrs. Benoit attended Welsh High School. She retired as office manager for Dr. R.H. Alexander, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and was also a Notary Public. Mrs. Benoit was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church.


She had a large network of friends through the internet that will miss her dearly. She loved animals, especially horses, dogs, and cats.


Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Louis Benoit of Moss Bluff; her Godson, Chris LaFleur of Moss Bluff; and a nephew, Larry Sonnier of Dallas, TX.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Ilbert and Clemmie Sonnier; a brother, Clarence Sonnier; and two nephews, Richard and Lawrence Sonnier.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 31, 2010 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Welsh, LA. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will be at the church cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Thursday from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM in the funeral home.

  3. hi lewis, i remember more than 10 years ago when i first met shi in the chat room how intimidated i was by her but one day i opened my mouth and sassed her right back and from then on there was no more intimidation..she will be missed … take care of yourself lewis, please!!!

  5. I had the pleasure of first meeting Mary, Shi as we all refer to her, in Sept 2000. In January 2001 we met again in San Antonio. As all our friends were out on the dance floor, we slipped off to the other side and watched the rodeo. We both shared a great love of animals, especially horses. I shall miss you my friend. I love you dearly. God Bless until we meet again.

  8. I met Mary in 60s room 1 in 1998 and i was new to the room she was the first lady to spoke to me and welcomed me we wher friends forever after that ,,i miss her so much in the room rest in pice now with God,,,wayne red tie.

  9. I met Shiloh in Room 1 online ,more than 10 yrs ago. She got me to speak on the mic finally and all of Room 1 has been sorry ever since.I was happy to get to say hello to her just recently when she came in the Room. She was a lovely lady who cared about people and animals. Hope she's enjoying the chat room up there along with others we have lost.She will not be forgotten Lewis , she and you will be in our prayers always. Love you , Shi.

  10. I met Shiloh in the 60's Love Room on Yahoo. She was one of the first people to welcome me. I was shy at first because it seem most of the people in the room were from the USA but in no time shiloh encouraged me to talk more over the years Shiloh became one of my favorite ladies in that room.Shiloh I became great friends and we shared many funny things together and a lot of great laughs.I will have truly missed her in the last few months. I am very lucky to have known her even if it was only on the internet. Shiloh I know your up there looking down at me saying northern_cutie behave yourself. Love you GalDonna Adams

  14. Mary was a close friend for the last 12 years. She got this Canuck cooking Cajun food by sending cook books and also the history of the Cajuns.She was so proud of her heritage. We shared a common love of animals and left me a fond memory with a phone call a couple weeks ago and the excitement in her voice about her new dog she adopted.   22. Shi, we spend many quality and memorable times. You always called me your lil good luck charm (When we went to casino, she would sit by me, she would win, and I wouldn't.) Shi was a great gal and all who knew her, loved her. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the Family. She will be missed so much.
