Matthew Shane Hank, age 21, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2010.


A resident of Lake Charles, Matt was born January 15, 1989. Loved by his many friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins, Matt was very happy and outgoing and loved to joke around. He loved fishing and hunting, but most of all, his time with his daughter was the most treasured time of all for Matt. He worked for Benton Equipment and loved every minute of it. Matt will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Preceding him in death were his great-maternal grandmothers, Pamela R. Lanclos and Della Liprie Bellon.


Survivors include the love of his life, his daughter, Emma Claire, and her mother, Ashley Tate of Lake Charles; his parents, Roderick and Belinda Lavergne of Lake Charles; his brothers and sisters, Michael Monk and wife, Erin and Kelsey Lavergne all of Lake Charles, and Shane and Tory Lavergne both of DeRidder; his maternal grandparents, Bill and Betty Kerry of Lake Charles; his paternal grandparents, Blue and Anna Guidry of Lake Charles; a special friend, Samantha Williams of Lake Charles; and his niece and nephew that he adored, Halie and Hunter Monk of Lake Charles.


His funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, December 24, 2010, at Johnson Funeral Home. Father Wayne LeBleu will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Monk, Bryan and Brandon Liprie, Justin Kerry, Chase Hudson, Shane Lavergne, Michael Boudreaux, Chase Cobb, and Jesse Rogers. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 23, from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. and again on Friday, December 24, from 8 a.m. until time of service. A cursillo rosary will be held Thursday evening at 6 p.m. followed by a scripture service.

  8. So sorry for your loss of your son. I can truly say I know what you feel because I to lost my son. I've known Betty for many years and I am so sorry for her loss. You will be in my prayers and in my thoughts. Just put your trust in God and he will get you through this most difficult time.

We remember the little Matt who hung around the baseball field with Michael and Mark all those years ago. We hope that in time you begin to remember not just that Matt died, but that he lived, and his life will give you memories too beautiful to forget.
