Maurice Stanley Neel, 88, of Ragley passed away at 8:45 PM on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 in a Kinder care facility.

Mr. Neel was born on April 24, 1935 in Shreveport, LA and moved to Ragley in 1965. He was raised in Zwolle where he graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School. Following graduation, he attended a catholic college in Dallas, TX where he earned an engineering doctorate degree. Mr. Neel began his 45 year career with AT&T and retired as a computer programmer. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was educated in horticulture and enjoyed gardening and caring for plants as well as woodworking.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 30 years, Sharon Neel; three children; and four siblings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Marvin Neel and three siblings.

A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 9, 2023 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Father Jeffery Starkovich will officiate. Cremation will follow the service with inurnment at later date in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Visitation will begin on Sunday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Monday from 11:00 AM until leaving for the church at 12:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mr. Neel to the St. Pius X Catholic Church building fund at spx.church/help.
