O. R. Skip Raimer

O.R. "Skip" Raimer, 73, of Lake Charles died Monday, May 16, 2011.


Mr. Raimer was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. He was a graduate of LaGrange Senior High School. He served the United States Army where he was on a Specialty Rifle Team and served the United States Navy Reserve for six years. Mr. Raimer worked nearly thirty years as an electrician in the construction industry, having retired from Kaough Jones Electric.


For fun, Skip enjoyed many years of bowling with a league at the Bowlarina, dove and duck hunting and skeet shooting. He was a member of Jean Lafitte Gun Club with which he competed nationally, having won numerous skeet shooting competitions. He also loved to cook.


His greatest passion throughout the many years and phases of his life has been fishing, Mr. Raimer died doing what he loved.


He will be most remembered for his love of his family, as he adored them and has looked forward to their Sunday lunch gatherings for quite some time.


He leaves to honor his memory, his daughter, Julie Raimer Beville and husband Steven; son, Kenneth Steven Raimer and wife Gretchen; two step-sons, James R. Haymon and Eric Bo Haymon and wife sue; two step-daughters, Florence Flo Roney and Janet Robinson; six grandchildren, Logan and Holly Beville of Lake Charles, Brittany Raimer of Lake Charles, Kenneth "K.J." Raimer of Fort Leonardwood, MO and Adrienne and Makailah Raimer, both of Lake Charles; one brother, Jack Raimer and wife Carolyn of Crosby, TX; two step- grandchildren, Tucker Robinson of CO and Cody Haymon of FL and his dear friend, Jackie McLellan Beck of Lake Charles.


He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Brenda Raimer and a brother, Richard Raimer

and was a widow of his 2nd wife Dolores "Dee" Raimer


Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Friday, May 20, 2011 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Robin Norris will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Thursday will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM until the time of the service in the funeral home.
