Patricia "Pat" Kleckley Klein, 78, died at 2:30 AM on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 in her residence, surrounded by her loving family. What a blessing, a gift from God.
Mrs. Klein was a longtime resident of Lake Charles. She was born in Three Rivers, TX to Lois Hardin Dryman Matlock and Charles Otis Matlock, and then moved to Lake Charles in 1953. She worked at Taussig Ford, was the manager for the Department of Motor Vehicles, volunteered at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital as a Pink Lady for 20 years, volunteered at St. Margaret Catholic Church and the Oak Park Food Pantry. Pat was a parishioner of St. Margaret Catholic Church. She was also the owner of Cajun Kwik Mart in Iowa for over 25 years.
She was married to Don Klein on August 28, 1993.
Pat, known by many as Granny Pat, enjoyed time with friends, family, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, cooking and bringing food to family meals.
She is survived by her loving husband of 18 years, Don Klein of Lake Charles; sisters, Jeannine Allen of Humble, TX, and Sara Clines and husband Henry Clines of Crockett, TX; daughter, Karen Kleckley; son, Chuck Kleckley and wife Laurie; and a daughter, Janet and husband Kenny Klein. Also Pam and husband Alex Torres, Melinda "Didi" and husband Larry Moreau all of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Jennifer (Aaron) Downs, Brittney (Kyle) Link, Erin Kleckley, Christopher (Jaime) Klein, Marcus Klein, Kayla Klein, Michelle Klein, Matthew (Martha) Torres, Allison Torres, Mary Torres, Leigh Ann Moreau, Luke Moreau; and three great grandchildren on the way.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law George Allen.
Her funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Monsignor Danny Torres and Father Bill Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be the six grandsons.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital Cancer Center, Dr. Maze's staff, the Lake Charles Memorial Hospital Chemo Bay staff, and Odyssey Hospice. Thanks for your comfort, care and compassion during this journey.
