Paul Mitchell 93, of Lake Charles died at 6:15 AM Thursday, November 24, 2011 in a local care facility.

Mr. Mitchell was born February, 10 1918 in Waltreak, Arkansas, the son of Agnes and Arthur Mitchell. He was a 1936 graduate of Bellville High School. After graduation Paul enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp, and was stationed in Hawaii at Hickam Field. On December 7, 1941 he was injured from an explosion during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart for his service.

Mr. Mitchell has lived in Lake Charles since 1944. He worked for Cities Service as an operator for five years. He later went to work for Conoco and retired after 25 years as a Lead Operator. Mr. Mitchell was a member of University United Methodist Church, and was also a member of the Free and Accepted Masons for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening in his spare time.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by two sons Noland Alan Mitchell and his wife Bonnie of Lake Charles, LA., Arthur Paul Mitchell of River Ridge, LA, two brothers; Boss Mitchell of Danville, AR, and Calvin C. "Cap" Mitchell of Lake Charles, LA, two grandchildren Meagan Mitchell McFatter and Michael Alan Mitchell both of Lake Charles, and five great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife Anne B. Mitchell, three brothers; James Drexel Mitchell, Hayes and Hoover Mitchell, one stepdaughter Alyce Anne Preston Jessop, one grandson Corey Paul Mitchell, and his parents Agnes and Arthur Mitchell.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 10:30 AM from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Charlie Langford will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will begin on Monday at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday at 9:00 AM until the time of service.
