Peter Alessio Ciambotti, 80, of Lake Charles passed away Friday, July 1, 2011 in the comfort of his home.
Mr. Ciambotti was born in New Castle, PA, raised in Youngstown, OH and has lived the past fifty years in Lake Charles. He was a graduate of East High School, Ohio State University and Loyola School of Law. He also attended his first year of Law at Louisiana State University School of Law. Mr. Ciambotti served the United States Air Force for five years with his last station being Chennault Air Force Base. During his assignment at Chennault, he met his beloved wife, Bernice Timpa Ciambotti, married and made Lake Charles their home.
Mr. Ciambotti has been an Attorney for the past fifty years, having served in private practice, during which he was, City Attorney under Jim Suddith, Bill Boyer and Paul Savoie, and was the Attorney for the Diocese of Lake Charles. He was member of the Louisiana State Bar Association for fifty years, and was admitted to the Supreme Court Bar Association in 1970.
Mr. Ciambotti enjoyed reading, studying in various disciplines and had a special interest in archeology. He will be most remembered for emphasizing education.
Mr. Ciambotti was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. He was honored by Pope Benedict XVI with the Papel Cross Pro Ecclesia Et Pontifice.
He was a devoted husband and father, enjoying the time shared with his wife and girls.
He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of 49 years, Bernice Timpa Ciambotti of Lake Charles; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Ciambotti of Lake Charles and Helen Ciambotti Johnson and husband Mark of Moss Bluff; two grandchildren, Lindsey and Janie Johnson of Moss Bluff; one sister, Adaline Wolbert and husband Joseph of Calhoun, GA; two sisters-in-law, Josetta Ciambotti of Youngstown, OH and Betty Timpa of Lake Charles; one brother-in-law, Hubert Timpa and wife Louise of Lake Charles and one aunt, Bessie Recupio of New Castle, PA.
He was preceded in death by his son, Peter Alessio Ciambotti, Jr., his parents, Alessio and Antonetta Recupio Ciambotti; one brother, James V. Ciambotti and three sisters, Louise R. Fleece, Martha Ciambotti and Jeanne Ciambotti.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation Monday will be from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Tuesday will be from 8:00 AM until 1:30 PM in the funeral home.
Pallbearers for the service will be James V. Ciambotti, Jr., Joseph P. Wolbert, Hubert J. Timpa, Johnny Timpa, Paul Vanchiere and Richard Timpa.
Mr. Ciambottis' family would like to express sincere gratitude to his Doctors and their staff and to his caregivers, Janice Poullard, Paula Achane, Brandy Spencer, Kim Henney, Ashley, Pat, and Shandra Davis and Hilda Williams, for their excellence in care and compassion.
I had the honor of meeting Mr.Ciambotti not long ago. Through him, I was able to bear witness to love in its purest form. It was nothing short of a blessing. Many prayers and hugs to all that were touched by him. His legacy will always shine on.Much Love,Sara
