Raburn "Mrs. Rae" Marie LeDoux

December 24, 1930 ~ May 15, 2024

Raburn “Mrs. Rae” LeDoux passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 93 in Lake Charles.

She was a loving, gentle and kind woman who enjoyed taking care of people. She remembered everyone’s birthday and made people feel special. She also loved backrubs!

She was born in Grand Prairie but resided in Lake Charles for most of her life. Her family spoke Cajun French and she had to learn English in school. She graduated from high school as valedictorian in 1947. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church & was a devout Christian.

She managed Pat’s of Henderson in Lake Charles for 32 years, until she was 84. She attributed that experience to keeping her young at heart. The truth is that she had the energy of 5 people & didn’t know how to slow down.

She was a good & decent woman who had been touched by grief more than once, yet she remained optimistic & brave. She once told me that as long as you find things to be grateful for you will never grow bitter.

She is survived by her son, Carl Matthew LeDoux of Lake Charles; granddaughter Erykca Violeta Tinh (Robert) of Cypress, TX and great grandchildren Caiden, Brooklyn, Ryland and Brixton.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Lee LeDoux; son, Philip Reed LeDoux; sisters, Gerdie, Toot, Mim, Rounnie & Abbie Rose. Mom was the last of her tribe. She had literally outlived everyone.

As to her wishes, graveside services will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday May 21, 2024 at Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will be at 9:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday May 21, 2024.

She will be missed…

Guestbook

  1. After I retired we spent 23 months getting to know each other again & what a wonderful journey it was. We healed all the pain & deepened our love for each other.

You knew that you weren’t alone anymore. I am honored to be your son! Thank You!

  2. Miss Rae was one of the nicest, kindest people you could ever meet. She was a nextdoor neighbor to our mother Faye Ensminger and was always bringing her thoughtful ‘treats’ from Pat’s. Thank you Miss Rae for all you did for mom when we weren’t there and for just being YOU! Matt, I am so sorry for your loss of your dad, mom and Phil. I’m so glad to read that you had a renewed relationship with mom before she passed. She loved you boys so much. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers as you honor your mom in the coming days.

  3. Candle 1Momma Rae Rae.. you have been a blessing in my life. Full of love and laughter the past 9 years I have known you. You have been light love and laughter I’m the darkest moments without even realizing. I will miss you ML&R

  4. Candle 1She was always so good to me and our family. She is the last of the Southern Belle hospitality. Always caring and wanting to help. Her strength was so amazing even to the end. GOD bless her. She will be missed.🙏🏼✝️

  5. Candle 4All I have are very special memories of a special lady & you & Philip Reed & Uncle Lee from oh so long ago. Nan Rae was a great lady & now still with all in spirit as a special soul. Time is a valuable gift, & you, Carl Matthew shared that with your Mother. Feel love & peace from it. Just saw that beautiful video of your Mother, your family & all. Her wonderful expressions came through in many pics. I saw MaMa Joe & my Mother in her face. What a treasure. God bless her & all. Love to all.

  6. I always remember Aunt Rae with a warm and loving smile every time she looked at me. Such a sweet soul and always made me feel very special. She was a bright light and I enjoyed every moment I was around her. Fly high Aunt Rae; I know you’re at peace and a smiling down at all of us.
