Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, just know that you are very close in every thought and prayer.

  2. Billy says his fondest memory of Mr. Roberts is of the camping trip with the Cub Scouts that included Jeff and Russell who were five years younger. Mr. Roberts and his dad had a tv in their tent which was unheard of in the late 70's. He was twelve years old and they let him fry fish for all of the Scouts…and no one got sick! He also remembers his dad and Mr. Roberts chasing bicycle theives late at night down the 21st street alley and laughing all the way! Billy says Mr. Roberts was a major influence in his life as he showed true strength of character in the face of adversity. Billy wants you to know that Mr. Roberts is in great hands now because he is again with his good friend, Bill…Heaven will never be the same!

  3. Butch was always a good friend, he was a pleasure to get to know through the years working at the Central Library.

  4. Dear Mrs. Penny Family: The visitation last night was very nice. Mr. Butch was an extremely kind person that touched many lives. Visiting my Mom (Peggy Trahan) at the library over the years we all got close to Mr. Butch. He was especially kind and thoughtful to our two boys. I recall our youngest son, Cameron expressing an interest in the military at a young age and Mr. Butch gave him a lot of his military belongings which Cameron has treasured. We will always be greatful for his friendship and kindness. Please rest assured that your family is in our prayers. My husband, Cameron and I didn't get an opportunity to visit with you last night because you had so many wonderful friends to talk to you, but we want you to know that we are praying for all of you. God Bless!

  5. Dear Penny, Russell and family, and Johnny and family — Mom and I both send our heartfelt sympathies….. we both loved Butch, and will miss him. He was such a warm and caring person who always made everyone feel special. He was also so much fun. I remember when I was small and was left at the office supply place one evening – I guess he was babysitting me! He would ask me questions, and I would answer them Yes, Sir. Eventually, he got tired of my response, and told me not to say that anymore because we were cousins. I should call him Butch and not worry about being so formal…. That was the first time I even knew we were cousins! He always knew how to put people at ease, and from then on, we were the best of buds. He will be sorely missed. Love, Donna and Lucy

  6. Ever since i met Butch he has always looked out for me and treated me like i was one of his own. he has helped me through some very hard times in my life. i will always miss him and remember the great times we shared.

  7. I am so sorry to read of Butch's death. As a dear friend of Lynda Lee, I knew him and considered him a friend. I know that Lynda will be happy to see her friend in heaven. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

  8. I didn't know Butch very well, but I remember what a nice boy he was in high school. He was liked by everyone, and I always thought of him as a walking Smile. Our sympathy and prayers are with your family at this time. Sincerely, Rowena Ronald (Speck) Bourque, Lafayette LA

  9. I enjoyed working with Mr. Butch at the Library. His smile and his stories brightened my day. I am a fortunate person to have worked with him as well as having his presence in my life. His favorite saying to us was It's my Joy anytime we needed something. HE was a JOY to all of us.

  10. I Love you dad and thank you so much for loving me and mom. Mom I love you too and you know what ever you need just ask . I thank you so much mom for taking care of dad he loved you so much , he told me that all the time. I know we will both miss him and it will not be the same around the house. Knowing that dad is in Heaven and in now more pain

  12. Mrs. Penny, You and your family are in my prayers. Mr. Butch will be missed, but he won't be forgotten. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to let me know.

  13. My dear friend Russell, I grieve with you. For your sake, let's grive in small measure for it is dangerous to abandon one's self to the luxury of grief. It deprives one of the courage needed to move forward and recover. Let your memories be the treasure house of your mind where all loved ones are stored. The supreme happiness of life is the coviction that we are loved by many. He was loved and you my friend are too. He made sure you knew that. Those left behind will remind you always. Much love to you and your family…Pam

  14. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I will truely miss my friend. He was such an influence in my life since joining the library staff. I will treasure always the many memories. Butch always had a story to tell and I am so glad I took the time to listen. I learned so much from him.

  15. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time of sorrow. Just remember all the good times and the smiles he brought to you. God Bless!

  16. Penny and Russell and Family,I have so many wonderful memories of Butch that I don't know where to begin. So many of those memories are associated with all those Cub Scout meetings at my house on 21st Street when our boys were small. Butch always said the main reason he loved those meetings was the food. He was always Bill's most loyal and trusted friend. They worked tirelessly together for so many years in countless political campaigns….I am sure they were both astonished to see Democrats in Heaven. I will miss him so much. My love and heartfelt sympathy to you all.
