Rodney Dale Goins

Rodney Dale Goins, 56, of Ragley, LA departed this life on Sunday, May 15, 2011.

Born June 7, 1954 in Lake Charles, LA, Mr. Goins lived most of his life in Ragley. He was a 1973 graduate of Sough Beauregard High School. He was a heavy equipment operator most of his life until he started his own business, RDG Enterprises, Inc., in 2009. He was also a member of Union Local 406 for thirty-five years.

His greatest joy in life was his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting, camping, and spending time outdoors.

Mr. Goins is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, Becky Griffin Goins; daughters, Kasha Goins Deason and husband Jack of Longville, Jada Goins Derouen and husband Jordon, and Shayla Goins Crawford and husband Drew, all of Ragley; father, Sherwood Goins of Dry Creek, LA; mother-in-law, Dorothy Griffin of Ragley, LA; brother, Marvin Goins and wife Brenda of Longville, LA; and grandchildren, Ashlynn, Jaclyn, Jaydon, Mason, Bryce, Madilynn, and Grant.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lilla Goins; sisters, Linda Smith and Merlin Wallace; and brother, William "Buddy" Perkins.

His funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at St. Theodore Catholic Church. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley, LA. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday from 10:30 AM until the start of the service.

Rodney and I were always close friends,that you know, but, I'm so glad that you and Rodney and the girls became more than just friends. Ya'll became part of my family. The time when my own family weren't there for me, you were. the times we spent together as couples and parents are very precious to me and my kids.   4. For Rodney's family although I didn't know all of you personally I've know Rodney for 40+yrs. He was the cutest little fellow with the prettest blue eyes.I am Jamie Fruge's Mom. I have seen Ashylnn several times with Madison.She looked just like him and just as sweet. For Marvin and Mr. Goins I am so sorry and want you to know that my prayers will be with you both.

  7. I feel honored to say Rodney was a good friend. It brings a smile to my face thinking of the good times I shared with him and his family. I have so many fond memories from hunting, camping, cookouts, holidays, etc. He was a good man that I had the uptmost respect for. He always made me feel welcome and treated me as one of his own. Rodney will always hold a special place in my heart.

  9. I was so sorrowed to hear of Rodney's passing. I was glad that I got to see him at a ball game last summer. It was such a good visitation, we went down memory not knowing we would be making a last memory.Virginia
