Roger Lewis Eiselstein

January 18, 1933 ~ October 19, 2010

Roger Lewis Eiselstein went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 19, 2010.

Left to cherish his memory, his wife of fifty-six years, Willow; his children, Susan and Bob Sheffield, Elaine Eiselstein and David Eiselstein, all of Moss Bluff, and Jim Eiselstein and Starla Eiselstein of Beaumont, TX; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Vance and husband Carlton; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of brothers and sisters in Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter S. and Edna Eiselstein; and brother, Edward.

He was a minister of the gospel for sixty years and pastured numerous small churches in Louisiana. "Bro. E" will be missed at Bethany Baptist Church in LeBleu Settlement, where he served for thirty-seven years.

A funeral service will be at Bethany Baptist Church at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 23, 2010. Reverend Frances LaRocque will officiate. A service will also be at 3:00 PM in Calvary Baptist Church in Gardner, LA, the place of his ordination and first pastorate. Burial will follow in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday at Bethany Baptist Church from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM and continue at Calvary Baptist Church from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Eiselstein was my mom's pastor for many years.Almost everytime I called home or went to visit I heard a story about his latest sermon or what he had done to help the church.When mom died Rev.Eiselstein conducted her service at the cemetery near Iowa.   5. I fondly remember when I was a very little girl being dedicated by my mother and father in the old church. You made such an impression on my life. I have so many great memories because of you and Mrs Willow. I felt so loved and felt so imbraced being in the church family. Brother E you are with our Father now and no longer suffering. I know Dad is happy to see you again. We love you and will see you again. Mrs Willow, Susan, Elaine, Jimmy and David you were blessed with a wonderful father and husband. I thank God that we were blessed to be a part of his life also. My deepest condolences.

  16. It's hard to believe it has been 10 years ago today. You have no idea how much you have been missed. I cherish the talks we shared and your advice on life still resonates with me. We shared the gift of a sense of humor and I still remember your laughter.
    Even though you are so missed, I would not change our circumstances for you reside with our Lord in heaven and I know that we will meet again one day. I love you Daddy.
