Trudy Ann Beard Bertrand

October 3, 1957 ~ April 24, 2011

Trudy Ann Beard Bertrand was called to her Heavenly home on Sunday, April, 24, 2011, with her loving family at her side.

A lifelong resident of Lake Charles, Mrs. Bertrand was born to Floyd, Sr. and Wavelyn Slocum Beard. She was a 1975 graduate of Barbe High School and a graduate of McNeese State University in computer technology. Mrs. Bertrand worked as a legal secretary for Raggio, Cappel, Cappel, Chozen, and Berniard from 1975 until 1979 and had been employed by Citgo Petroleum as a computer analyst from 1980. She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church. Mrs. Beard enjoyed photography, but her greatest joy was her family and being mom to her beloved daughter Rachel.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Robert G. Bertrand; one daughter, Rachel Bertrand; mother, Wavelyn Beard; and two brothers, Howard Beard and wife Molly and Floyd Beard Jr. and wife Cathy, all of Lake Charles.

Mrs. Bertrand was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Beard Sr.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 3 p.m. in Johnson Funeral Home. Pastor Shane Kastler will officiate. Interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 until 9 p.m. and will continue Wednesday from 8 a.m. until time of service.

The family would like to express their grateful appreciation to everyone who prayed for and ministered to Trudy, Robert and Rachel during the six years of her illness.

  24. When our beloved step-father passed in January, Trudy was among many of my sister's friends from CITGO that reached out with loving kindness to our mother. My sister is Pam Suarez and I followed through Pam Trudy's brave journey as it paralelled so much that of one of my staff members. They are both now at peace and pain free.
