Memories Timeline

  1. Aunt Gen, You will be missed greatly. You have been such a kind hearted, caring person. Having you as a neighbor has been a blessing. There's not a Christmas that went by that we didn't exchange gifts. It is so hard to look at your house and know your not there. I know you are at peace and in the arms of Jesus surrounded by all the angels. Do me a favor and tell Momma hi for me. I will see you again someday.

  2. Fifty years ago exactly I was a student in Miss Lorrain's fifth grade class at Iowa. She was a wonderful teacher who demanded respect and expected her students to complete their assignments on schedule. She never fussed at me although she had good reason to I'm sure. My dad had died several weeks before fifth grade started and I remember she was kind to me. Over the years we stayed in contact. I went to visit her in 86 and we exchanged lketters and calls.Eveytime I wrote a book I sent her a copy and she was always gracious.Ifwe had a choice of how all school teachers would conduct themselves I'd vote for their being just like she was. She helped direct the path of my life.I will not forget her. ever. She cared. My sympathy, Thad H. Carter

  3. I wanted to be in Miss Lorraine's room, but was not that lucky. I experienced how she may have taught by getting in Ms. Bertha Hebert's 6th grade class. My description of Miss Lorraine is classy, awesome;and Iowa was so blessed to have her.

  4. Miss Lorrain was my favorite teacher. She inspired me to go into teaching. She was a wonderful, kind teacher who taught us well. In later years, I was able to stay in touch with her with phone calls and cards. Sadly, I did not get to visit her in person. My sympathy to her family. Sharon Landry Miller

  5. Nucy,I know you will be lost without her. You have been such a loving and caring person in her life and did so much for her. You are such a strong and special angel. I think of all the visits we had with her and how she made us laugh. She was such a character and a fiesty beautiful lady. She will be missed by all of us. If there's anything you need please give us a call. You are in our prayers and God Bless.

  6. When I stop and think about my elementary years at Iowa, my thoughts always first go to Ms. Lorrain's fifth grade class. She loved children and had a unique gift relating to them. She left me with wonderful memories. She was stern, but she made learning so much fun. I don't think I ever missed a day of school during my year with Ms. Lorrain. I only wish, as an adult, I could have had the opportunity to tell her how much she influenced and blessed my time with her. I will never ever forget Ms. Lorrain and am grateful that our lives crossed.
