Ada Paris

October 17, 1925 — August 30, 2025

Ada Lea Paris, 99, of Lake Charles, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025. She was born on October 17, 1925, in Anacoco, Louisiana.

Ada was a strong and generous woman who dedicated her life to her family, her church, and her community. She was one of the first members of Gillis Pentecostal Church, which was started by her neighbor, Jimmy Granger, and she remained a faithful member her entire life. It was at church that she met her husband, when he would peek in the windows and caught her eye.

Ada loved fishing, tending to her flowers-especially her roses-and keeping a spotless home. Even at 99 years old, she was still mopping her own floors. She was an active and determined woman, always giving of herself to others. She quilted with love, making quilts for each of her children, grandchildren, and many members of her church. She also created porcelain dolls, many of which she gave away as cherished gifts. No matter what she had, Ada shared it freely, even in times when she had little herself.

In the 1960s, Ada began selling insurance with Burke Hammer Funeral Home. She continued her career with Zeb Johnson at Johnson Funeral Home, where she worked for many years selling funeral insurance. Her persistence and dedication shone through in every part of her life.

Ada is survived by her loving children Cecil Paris (Gennie), James Paris ( Mona), Roger Paris (Sonja), Anne Seaman (Owen), Kathy Woodlee (Jerry), Michael Paris (Sally), Dan Paris (Beth); her 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 15 great great-grandchildren; her brother Wayne Moore, and sister Betty Gary.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, James Jefferson Paris; and 1 grandson, David Paris.

A funeral service in honor of Ada will take place on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 2:00PM at Johnson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff, LA with services officiated by Bro.
