The Lord has called our mother home.
Adele Ann Valley Manuel born to JC & Fleda Vallery, September 22, 1945, was called home on September 2, 2025, at the age of 79.
At a young age she married Freeman Turner and had three children. Missy, Denise and John were her entire world. Although they parted ways they kept the children’s best interest at heart.
God sent Gordon Johnson into Adele’s life. They were married and raised three small children into adulthood. They were married 28 years before he passed away.
God wasn’t finished with his blessings for Adele. She married Elroy Manuel, her best friend and bingo companion. They had 18 years of happiness together. They enjoyed playing bingo and cooking Sunday dinners for the family to enjoy. There was never a dull moment. Adele loved when the kids and grandkids came to visit. There was a nursery rhyme to be taught to the little ones. She always improvised her wording of course. To break up the routine of watching game shows and westerns. They would make homemade jelly and watched many Saints and LSU football games.
Adele’s proudest roll in life was being a mother to her three children. There were times she had an entire meal cooked before they went to school in the morning. She encouraged each child’s adventures. She was there to catch them when they would fall and wiped their tears. Always offering a shoulder to cry on and words of encouragement.
Adele enjoyed spending time with her family outdoors. She loved to fish, hunt arrowheads and catching shrimp when they were running. She was also very artistic.
Adele loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren endlessly. Not only did she have those from her children, she gained numerous ones when she married Elroy and Gordon. They all loved her the same….as a mother and grandmother.
Those left to cherish her memory are: Missy LaBauve & husband Kevin, Denise Byler, daughter-in-law Brandi Johnson, daughter-in-law Dorris Manuel, stepson Randy Manuel, Eddie Manuel & wife Kathy, Ray Manuel & wife Tammy, Tina Schiele, Charles Manuel & wife Amy, Rebecca Lynn Lewis and husband, Joseph, Ronnie Manuel & wife Rachel, 30 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by: second husband, Fred Gordon Johnson; third husband, Lawrence Elroy Manuel; son, John D Johnson; stepson, Ben Manuel; son-in-law, Gomer Schiele and six sisters and three brothers.
Adele was the last surviving member out of 10 children born to JC and Fleda Vallery.
Funeral service for Adele will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Johnson Funeral Home in Sulphur, La. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Dutch Cove Cemetery.
