Adeline “Addie” Weidner, 74, of Lebleu Settlement passed away on Friday morning, Feb. 24, 2017, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Addie was born in Lafayette LA, July 21,1942, to her parents Ophley and Evelyn Fruge. She lived in several states growing up although the family always returned to their roots in Louisiana. She was proud of her Cajun heritage and loved to teach other people how to cook Cajun Cuisine. Although not fluent in Cajun French, if she got into a conversation with someone she could hold her own. In August of 1970, she married the love of her life, Walter Weidner and they spent the next 46 and a half years together. As the wife of a military husband they traveled and lived in many parts of the United States and around the world. After retiring from the military life, they settled in Lebleu Settlement in 1996. She became a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked as a home health care provider for several families.
Those left to cherish Addie’s memory are her loving husband, Walter Weidner; two daughters, Shirley Walker and Andrea Levins (Mark); a son, Chris Weidner (Courtney); a sister Barbara Richard (Robert); twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, John Paul Weidner; daughter, Cindy Marie Woosley; grandson, Johnathon Walker; three brothers, Donald, Charles and Robert Fruge; and her loving sister Margaret Young.
Following her wishes, cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Lake Charles, LA. A gathering to celebrate her life will be held at Johnson Funeral Home, Lake Charles from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on Saturday March 4, 2017. All who knew and loved her are invited to share stories and reminisce about her life.
