Agnes Bertrand

Agnes Miller Bertrand, 83, passed away peacefully Tuesday August 19, 2025. She was born on December 15, 1941, to Dora Thibodeaux and Ernest Miller.

Agnes was raised on a farm where she developed a lifelong love for animals. She graduated from SOWELA with a degree in clerical studies and later dedicated over 20 years of service as a clerk at the Calcasieu Parish Courthouse.

In her early years, Agnes enjoyed sewing and shopping. She was a proud member of the Glad Tidings choir, where she found joy in music and fellowship. Agnes selflessly and lovingly devoted herself to raising her children during their formative years. In her later years, she became the life of the party always ready to dance, laugh, and spread joy to those around her. Above all, Agnes cherished her role as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Those left to cherish her memories are children, Rochelle Mallett and husband Harlyn, John Bertrand and wife Amy, Cheryl Miskiel and husband Scott, Kevin Bertrand and wife Sue; grandchildren Richard Bertrand, Jacob Bertrand and wife Christina, Philip Bertrand and wife Darrian, Emily Falcon and husband Jake, Amanda Miskiel and husband Jake, Johnny Miskiel; great grandchildren Elena, Summer, Henry, Mila, Noah, Benjamin, Dakota, Juliet, Logan, Evelyn and one on the way; numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in passing by her parents; husband of 22 years, Richard Bertrand; son, Philip Bertrand; siblings Lena Sittig, Edward Miller, Ruby Arnold, Theresa Corbello, Hansel Miller, Lucy Foreman and Allen Miller.

The funeral service will take place Saturday August 23, 2025, at Johnson Funeral Home at 11:00am. Visitation will begin on Friday August 22, 2025, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and continues Saturday from 9:00am till time of service. A rosary will be recited at 6:00pm on Friday August 22. 2025. Interment will be held at Prien Memorial Park.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Brookdale Nursing Home and Amedisys Hospice for the compassionate and attentive care they provided to Agnes in her final days.
