Alfred Donald Broussard, 79, passed away on Saturday May 30, 2015 after a prolonged illness. He was born in Sweetlake, LA in Cameron Parish where he attended school. He graduated from Grand Lake High School when it was located west of the Intercoastal Waterway. He attended McNeese State University for two years and then transferred to Louisiana State University where he obtained a B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering. He began work for Cities Service/Citgo Petroleum at the Lake Charles refinery beginning in 1959. While there he met the love of his life, and enduring best friend Shirley Ann Feucht. They were married in 1961. He served two short periods in the military including 9 months at Fort Sill, Oklahoma during the Berlin Wall Crisis. Upon his return he held various positions as a Chemical Engineer before retiring after 39 years of service. He was a lifelong resident of Southwest Louisiana. He and his family have been members of Our Lady Queen of Heaven parish since 1964 where he served on the Finance Committee for 10 years. His hobbies included gardening and wood working. But anyone who knew him knew he has a passion for good conversation with friends, and a good cup of coffee. Mr. Broussard was preceded in death by his mother, Lovina Duhon Broussard; father McKinley "Mac" Joseph Broussard; younger brother Richard Broussard who was killed in active duty in Vietnam; and older brother Robert Broussard of Carlyss, LA. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley Feucht Broussard; his children Jennifer Hope Broussard of Lake Charles; three sons, Mitchell Neil Broussard of Lafayette, Jeffrey Kent Broussard and his wife Jennifer Vick Broussard, of Knoxville, TN, and Richard Gary Broussard and his wife Candy Prince Broussard of Nashville, TN. He is proud of his seven loving grandchildren: Austin, Madison, Sydney, Gabrielle, Ryan, Evan and Aiden. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Monday at 5:00PM until 9:00 PM with a Rosary to be held at 6:00 PM.
