Lake Charles – Alfred “Mud Flap” Miller, went to his eternal resting place on January 17, 2021, at the age of 68.
Alfred married his childhood sweetheart Jocelyn in 1970. Together they had 3 children, Mae, Beverly, and Glenn.
Alfred began driving trucks in 1974 and turned his career into a lifelong passion. He was known on the road as “Mud Flap.”
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed trucking and cooking for his family and friends. His sense of humor was unmatched, and he loved to make people laugh more than anything. He never met a stranger and leaves behind an incredible amount of extended family and friends.
Alfred is survived by and will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 50 years, Jocelyn (Richard) Miller; children, Eula Mae Hesse (Rocky Fontenot), Beverly Marie Leger (Paul), Glenn Dale Miller (Jennifer); grandchildren, Dylan Hesse, Tre`Venn Carter, Ravenn Carter, Caden Miller, Collin Miller; stepbrother, Earl Joseph LaPointe (Susan), half-brothers and sisters, Gregory Shayne Miller, Wanda Jennings, Michael Glenn Miller, Carl David Miller, Sharon Moore.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Nellie Joyce Martin, father, Jessie Miller, sister, Eula Mae Miller and half-sister, Carla Perrodin.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m., with a Celebration of Life at 6:30 p.m. and resume on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Weldon Bares, officiant. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Pallbearers assisting in his service are Dylan Hesse, Tre`Venn Carter, Caden Miller, Kae` Dunn Keys, Paul “Polo” Leger and Jarod Fontenot. Honorary Glenn Miller, Collin Miller, Rocky Fontenot and Cory Fontenot.
