Alias Joseph Duplichan, 84, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 17, 1941, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Elias Joseph Duplichan and Amy Fontenot Duplichan.
Alias proudly served his country in the United States Army as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne (Screaming Eagles) and a lifelong member of the American Legion. He graduated from Gillis High School in 1959 where he played on the football team and other athletic activities. He worked for many years as an industrial painter and retired from PPG industries. He also served his community as Fire Chief of Ward 1 Fire Department in Moss Bluff.
Alias had a deep love for sports, from faithfully rooting for the New Orleans Saints to coaching girls, soft pitch softball In Moss Bluff. An active and social man, he could often be found under the carport, enjoying a beer and playing washers with friends. He also loved to bowl. Alias was a lifelong member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church, and a devout Catholic.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Angel Courville and husband Mike, Tracy Duplichan and wife Beth, Jonathan Duplichan and wife Kathryn, Jennifer Duplichan and daughter-in-law Barbara Duplichan.; grandchildren: Teressa, Amanda, Matt, Brandon, Erica, Konnie, Therasia, Joan, Abbie, Madisyn, Maci, Bronson, Brooklynn, and Brilynn; Along with numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Glenda Sittig Duplichan; son Michael Shayne, parents; and sisters, Dorothy Manuel, Marjorie Shelly, and Audrey Impastato.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at St. John Bosco, Catholic Church, with Father Rojo Koonathan Officiating and Deacon Reed assisting. Visitation will take place at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm, and will resume on Saturday from 8:30 am until 9:30 am. A rosary will be recited on Friday at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff at 6:00 PM. Burial will follow at Old Richie cemetery.
