Alice Merle Browne

Iowa – Alice Merle Browne, 77, passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, August 4, 2015.
Merle was born in Chloe on February 18, 1938 to the late Eli and Amy Hebert. She was employed by Lakeside Bank from 1972 to 1992 and retired from Grand Casino Coushatta in 2006. Merle was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church where she served on the Altar Society. She was also a member of the CCOA-Iowa and the Iowa AARP. Her hobbies included sewing and participating in the Senior Olympics.
She is survived by her 2 children, William “Bill” Browne of Westlake and Elaine Browne (Chris Burke) of Alexandria, VA; brother, James Hebert (Vivian) of Lake Charles and numerous nieces and nephews; her beloved Pomeranian, Gidget.
A Mass of Christian burial will be in St. Raphael Catholic on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 2 p.m. with Father Bennie Wego officiating. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., with a rosary at 12:30 p.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, P. O. Box 650309 Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
