Alice Mae "Nucy" Nunez

December 23, 1928 — October 25, 2020

Alice Mae “Nucy” Nunez went to be with her Lord on October 25, 2020 in a Lafayette care facility. Nucy was born December 23, 1928 to the late Gabriel and Margaret (Delaney) Lorrain.

She lived her 91 years in the Hayes and Bell City communities until moving her last two years to the Brookdale Assisted Living and Memory Care facility in Lake Charles, La.  Nucy, as she was affectionally known after childhood friends called her nuisance and shortened it to Nucy, met her soulmate, Herman Harold Nunez, after his discharge from the Navy following WWII. They married six weeks later.  Their union produced two children, Gregory and Marguerite.  Nucy was highly active in her children’s school and their extracurricular activities.  She was treasurer of St. John Vianney Credit Union for many years.  After their children were grown, Harold and Nucy enjoyed RVing with numerous friends and family. Following his death, she could usually be found on her lawn mower.

Nucy was preceded in death by her love Herman Harold Nunez, son, Gregory Anthony Nunez and granddaughter Carmen Jeanine Nunez.

She is survived by her daughter, Marguerite Kramer (Greg) and daughter in law, Cynthia Nunez; grandchildren, Dr. Sara Doyle (Paul), Bronwen Freeman (Jeremy), Lauren Nunez, Shannon Faircloth (David), Allison Hayes (Matthew), T.J. Kramer, and Drew Kramer (Amber); great-grandchildren, James and Maggie Doyle, Gregory and Judy Breinin, Arabella Freeman, Josie Davis, Jacob and Carmen Faircloth, Rhys and Carys Hayes, Carter and Carson Kramer, Landon, Cameron and Tripp Kramer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday October 31, from St. John Vianney Catholic Church with burial following in Derouen-Lorrain Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Father John Payne will officiate.

Due to Covid 19, there will be no gathering following the burial and the family asks that masks be worn at all times for the safety of all attending.

In lieu of flowers the family asked that donations be made to St. John Vianney Catholic Church or the charity of choice.

The family wishes to thank Brookdale Assisted Living and Memory Care in both Lake Charles and in Lafayette for the care given to Nucy.
