Allen McGee

Allen McGee, 85, of Lake Charles passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026 in a Jennings care facility.

Mr. McGee was born on May 14, 1940, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he was raised and attended LaGrange High School. Upon graduation, he proudly joined the United States Navy, serving as a ship mechanic before being honorably discharged.

Following his military service, Mr. McGee worked as a Greyhound bus driver and as a truck driver. He eventually relocated to Wichita, Kansas, where he was employed as a Boeing aircraft mechanic until his retirement. In 2012, he returned to his hometown of Lake Charles.

Mr. McGee was a lifetime member of VFW Post 8107 in Sulphur and a member of the Bayou CB Club. He had a deep passion for motorcycles; in his younger years, he raced at Chennault and remained an enthusiastic supporter of the sport throughout his life.

He also enjoyed visiting estate sales and took great pride in his collection of pocket watches.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Jolene McGee, Renee Loup (Kenneth), and Shonda Escalera (Armando); his twin brother, Alvin McGee (Wanda); his sister, Linda Faye Rutherford; one granddaughter; four grandsons; three great granddaughters; five great grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dwight McGee; parents, Alvan and Evelyn McGee; and the mother of his children, Mary Wynne McGee.

Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. The family will have an informal celebration of life at The Grove in Sulphur at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. Rev. Marcus Wade will give a blessing at the celebration. Please bring a chair if you would like to have a seat during the celebration.
