Allen Wardell Trahan

December 28, 1936 — May 2, 2017

Allen Wardell Trahan, 80, of Lake Charles passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 in a local hospital.

 

Mr. Trahan was born on December 28, 1936 in Lake Arthur and moved to Lake Charles in 1956. He served in the US Army and retired from the US Army Corp of Engineers after 22 years of service. Mr. Trahan was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #106. He was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church.

 

He was a family man and cherished the time he spent with his family. He will be deeply missed.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are six children, Wesley Trahan (Missi) of Grandlake, Romona Rodriquez (Gaston) of Magnolia, TX, Dale Trahan of Lake Charles, Donna Moe (Steven) of Moss Bluff, Gregory Trahan (Julie) of Deridder, and Jennifer Dautreuil (Carl) of Arnaudville, LA; a step daughter, Barbara Chapman (Stanley) of Topsy; siblings, Arlene Hill of Jackson, MS, Louis Trahan, Jr. of Gueydan, Melvin Trahan of Houma, and Jerald Trahan of Gueydan; twenty-nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Fontenot Trahan; his parents, Alicia and Louis Trahan, Sr.; a grandson, Sidney Trahan; and siblings, Alice Sailor, Gwen Oliver, Eloise Freyou, Florence Manuel, Raymond Trahan, Henry Trahan, Dickie Trahan, Murriel Trahan, and Harry Trahan.

 

A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited by the family at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until leaving for the church at 11:00 AM.

 

The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Brian Clements and to the staff at Grand Cove Nursing Home for their compassionate care given to Mr. Trahan.
