Almalee Bordelon Pitman
January 8, 1928 — December 30, 2016
Almalee Bordelon Pitman, 88, of Lake Charles passed away Friday, December 30, 2016 in the comfort of her home.
Mrs. Pitman was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. She was a graduate of Lake Charles High School where she was a Kiltie, and attended McNeese State University where she was chosen Sophomore Maid on the Homecoming Court during the early years of MSU. She retired from McNeese with fifteen years of service. Following her retirement, she was in her element, caring for children in her home. She enjoyed being involved with her children’s school and extracurricular activities. Her hobbies were ceramics, traveling, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Pitman was a lady of grace. She will be most remembered for her love of the Lord and instilling the importance of knowing and loving Him to her family and friends. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 63 years, John L. Pitman of Lake Charles; six children, Mark Pitman (Lwana), Sherrill Pitman, Kathleen Stutes (Chuck), Marianne Fellows (Buck), Laurie Kleckley (Chuck) and Jane Pitman, all of Lake Charles; eighteen grandchildren; thirty nine great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and one sister, Faye Winslow (Carl) of Phoenix, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Hamilton Bordelon and Annie Lyons Bordelon; two brothers; two sisters; grandson, Chad Foster and granddaughter, Dari Hinton.
Mrs. Pitman’s family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of Heart of Hospice for their excellence in care and compassion and to Aaliyah Thomas for being so much more than a caretaker.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 03, 2017 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Steve James will officiate. Interment will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation Tuesday will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
