Alton Alvin Richard, 75, of Sweetlake, Louisiana, passed away in Alexandria, Louisiana on Wednesday, March 6, 2019.
He was a native of Cameron, Louisiana where he lived most of his life. He worked for Cameron Construction, The Barge Terminal, McDaniel’s Welding, and Roy Bailey as a Dump Truck Driver most of his life. He loved antique cars, and spent countless hours detailing his cars. He never met a stranger, and he loved to joke and play pranks on his friends and family. Most of all, he loved fishing and spending time with his and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his three children, Alton Richard, II (Tina) of DeRidder; Maranda DeBarge (Chad) of Sweetlake; Bethanie DeBarge (Thomas Wayne, Jr.) of Grand Lake; brother, Freddie Richard (Dorothy) of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Breann DeBarge, Sadie DeBarge, Brandon Richard, Lexi-Jo DeBarge, Nathan Richard, T-Chad DeBarge, Kolby DeBarge and Blaze Richard; great granddaughter, Kambree Armentor; and the mother of his children and best friend, Joyce Hays of Deridder.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Aldis Richard, Sr. and Effie Mary Nunez Richard; siblings, Aldis Richard, Jr., Duval Richard, Marilyn Richard, Emma Richard, Mary Ruth Nevels and Henry Richard.
A funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 12, 2019. Deacon George Carr will officiate. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines South Cemetery in Carlyss, LA. Visitation will begin on Monday, March 11 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday from 12:00 PM until the start of the service.
