Bell City –Alvin J. Leger, 83, passed away at 7:45 a.m. on May 18, 2015 in his residence surrounded by his family.
Born in Crowley on April 27, 1932, he was the son of the late Clemile Leger and Ermilie (Thibodeaux) Leger. Alvin was a carpenter by trade and a member of St. John the Vianney Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 3048.
Survivors are his sons, Mark Leger of Waco, Texas and Peter Leger (Donna) of Bell City; daughter, Kathleen “Tina” Bryant (Drew) of SC; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Ermilie Leger. He is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Leger, children, Rebecca Robinson, Steven Leger and Joey Leger; 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
A Mass of Christian burial will be in St. John the Vianney Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Father Emmanuel Tanu officiating. Burial will follow in Lorrain DeRouen Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Visitation is Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a cursillo rosary at 6:30 p.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home – Iowa and will resume Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. in the funeral home.
