Alya Christine Duhon, 47, of Lake Charles passed away the day before her 48th birthday at 10:50 AM on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, in a local hospital following a brief illness.
Alya was born on June 17, 1973, in Lake Charles where she resided all of her life and was a graduate of Barbe High School. She furthered her education at McNeese State University receiving a bachelor’s degree in Consumer Science. Alya was a loved and respected office manager for 18 years at Moss Bluff Physical Therapy. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.
She was a devoted mother to her only daughter, Kya, and was an avid supporter of her soccer involvement with St. Louis. Alya spent her spare time involving herself in everything her daughter chose to be a part of. She will be missed by her family and friends, as well as her work family and clients.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Kya Duhon of Lake Charles; her parents, Rebecca Duhon of Lake Charles and Maurice Duhon (Bonnie) of Dallas; siblings, Maury Wolverton (Steve) of Baton Rouge and Chris Duhon of Lake Charles; and her companion for the past 9 years, Kevin Simon of Dequincy. She also leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephews, London Hannan, Sierra Bowman, Bailey, Madison, and Christopher Duhon, and Soren and Emily Wolverton.
A memorial service will be held in her memory on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 6:00 PM at University Baptist Church. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 4:00 PM and continue until 8:00 PM. Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
