Amalia Carrizales Almendarez

Amalia Almendarez Carrizales, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born on August 23, 1934, in Hejido Hijinio Olivio, Cárdenas, San Luis Potosí, Mexico.

Amalia was the heart of her family. She was the kind of woman who left a loving impression on everyone she met. Open-hearted, generous, and full of love, she devoted her life to serving others. Amalia had a joy for life that was obvious. She also had a love for singing and dancing that brought light into every room she entered.

A woman of deep tradition, Amalia found great joy in passing down her cultural heritage to her children and grandchildren. Her kitchen was a place of gathering, love, and incredible food.

Amalia's strength, compassion, and unwavering support made her an extraordinary role model. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the family she loved so dearly.

She is survived by her children: Cristobal Gamez, Rene Gamez, Alma Santos, Hildaglada Gamez, Silverio Gamez, Salomon Gamez, Ramon Gamez, and Eduardo Gamez.

She was a proud grandmother to: Marciela Gamez, Maximilliano Gamez, Carina Gamez, Alondra Gamez, Pamela Gamez, Yurtize Gamez, Casandra Gamez, Cristela Gamez, Juan Gamez, Antonio Gamez, Reinaldo Santos, Ulises Santos, Ricardo Gamez, Amalia Gamez, Marco Flores, Celeste Flores, Alejandro Flores, Edgar Gamez, Juan Gamez, Briseida Gamez, Jenifer Gamez, Roberto Gamez Jr., Salomon Gamez Jr., Cristobal Gamez, Ulises Gamez, Cristina Gamez, Ruby Gamez, Crystal Gamez, Angelica Gamez, Rayna Gamez, Franco Gamez, Amalia Gamez, Eduardo Gamez Jr., Dante Gamez, Cristian Gamez, and Emaly Gamez.

Her great-grandchildren include: Leonardo Santana, Johanna Martinez, Ramiro Martinez, Andrea Martinez, Carmen Martinez, Robin Santos, Mia Santos, Saul Albarran, Alexus, Jacob, Christopher, Lizeth, Camila, Lea, Pedro, Dallana Karina, Mildreth Escarleth, Zoe Romina, Jesus Iram, Iker Cristobal, Matais, Aitana Mariel, Fernando Daniel, and Sophie Nicole.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roberto Gamez; her children: Roberto Gamez Jr., Maria Ines Gamez, Franco Gamez, and Armando Gamez; and grandchildren Cristian Santos and Silverio Gamez Jr.

Amalia's life was a testament to love, faith, resilience, and service. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the blessing of knowing her.

A funeral service will take place at St. Pius Catholic Church in Ragley, LA on June 6, 2025 at 10:30 AM. A rosary will take place at the church at 10:00 AM before the service. Visitation will be begin at 9:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff.
